Earlier this month, three employees took part in the SAM Charity Bog Run at Castlewellan Forest Park to raise money for the Cancer Fund for Children.

The SAM Charity Bog Run saw competitors covered in mud from head to toe. Participants powered through what can only be described as ‘natures assault course’ around Castlewellan Forest Park. By taking part in this adrenalin-fuelled Bog Run, the SAM ladies were raising money for the Cancer Fund for Children.

SAM employees Grace Cahoon (HR & Training Manager), Lynne Strange (Finance Coordinator) and Roisin Moran (HR Advisor) joined over 200 other willing participants and battled through the obstacles around the 5km course. Braving the mud, water, and a series of gruelling physical challenges, Grace, Lynne, and Roisin showed immense determination and team spirit. Moreover, their participation not only showcased SAM’s commitment to community and charity but also highlighted the resilience and camaraderie. This event was a true testament to the their dedication to making a difference, one muddy step at a time.

Lynne commented, “I really enjoyed the event. Parts of the course were very challenging and dropping into Castlewellan lake at the end took my breath away (literally!). However, it was great fun and it was for a brilliant cause. We were really proud of how much we raised.”

By rallying together and participating in the challenging event, the SAM team successfully raised £669 for the Cancer Fund for Children. This significant contribution will directly support the fund’s mission to offer comprehensive assistance. The assistance offered by the charity ranges from emotional and practical support to financial aid. Moreover, this is to help young cancer patients and their families, helping to alleviate some of the burdens they face during such difficult times. This effort underscores the team’s commitment to giving back to the community and supporting those in need.

Well done ladies – we are proud of you too!
