SAM has announced Cancer Research UK as its new charity partner for this year.

At the end of every financial year, each member of the SAM team is asked to choose from a selection of charity organisations to partner with for the following year.

Cancer Research UK, the world’s leading independent cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research, influence and information won the vote this year and the team are looking forward to raising money for a cause that undoubtedly affects everyone, with 1 in 2 of us getting cancer in our lifetime.

Last year, the SAM team raised £5,000 for the Mental Health Foundation through various fundraising activities such as seasonal raffles, a sports day and a sweets in a jar competition. The company also encouraged team members to take part in Movember to raise awareness of men’s health issues and collectively they raised £1,000 for a variety of personally selected charities.  In February, SAM donated £5,000 to the British Red Cross for the Ukraine Crisis Appeal and our Donington team bought supplies including nappies, food and toiletries to give to a local library gathering items to send to Ukraine.

SAM HR Manager, Shauna McErlain commented: “After a very successful year of fundraising campaigns for the Mental Health Foundation, we are looking forward to the year ahead raising funds for Cancer Research UK.  There was great participation from the SAM team in the activities last year and we are looking forward to some exciting campaigns later in the year”.

The SAM team will be organising various activities over the coming year to raise money for Cancer Research UK. The charity was formed in 2002, but the scientists behind it have been working to beat cancer for 120 years. Their ongoing work helps to prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer, benefitting millions of lives all over the UK.

Keep an eye out on the SAM social media pages to see what we get up to.
