The SAM team have been active over the last few months with the aim of promoting good health and wellbeing and to raise money for new charity partner, Cancer Research UK.

Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading independent cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research, influence, and information. The team voted Cancer Research UK as the company’s chosen charity for this financial year back in February and have been raising money through various activities ever since.

May kicked off with the SAM Step Challenge to promote National Walking Month, where the team were faced with the task of walking a total of 5,000,000 steps during the month of May. A donation of £1,000 would be given if the target was met, and a further £100 donation for every 1,000,000 steps thereafter.

Continuing the theme of getting up and active, the team also took part in SAM Sports Day to mark Men’s Health Week in June, competing in various sporting activities such as basketball, golf and penalty shoot outs, all while raising funds for Cancer Research UK.

SAM is pleased to announce a total of £2,134 was raised from both events, with the step challenge racking up an impressive 14 million steps.

HR Manager, Shauna McErlain said, “The purpose of these events was for everyone to enjoy some time out from their duties and have fun with their colleagues. Overall, it was a big success and everyone seemed to really enjoy it which was great to see.”

A huge well done to all the team that were involved both organising and participating in these events. The company will continue with more fundraising activities throughout the year.
