SAM has been awarded ISO 45001 certification for Occupational Health and Safety management systems.

According to the ISO website, ISO 45001 is the world’s first international standard dealing with health and safety at work.  It provides a management system framework to improve employee safety and reduce workplace risks by ensuring better and safer working conditions.

SAM already held the OHSAS 18001 standard, which focused on managing occupational health and safety hazards where the new ISO 45001 certification looks at both risk and opportunities and concentrates on the relationship between an organisation and its surrounding environment.

Mark Kirkpatrick, Technical Director at SAM, comments: “We had to undergo a rigorous audit to achieve ISO 45001 certification and it will provide employees, customers and suppliers with the assurance that we take their health and safety very seriously.  By implementing the most up-to-date, internationally recognised occupational health and safety standard, we are also demonstrating a level of excellence that helps to maintain our position as industry leader in the MDF mouldings market”.

Following an audit carried out by BM Trada, SAM was also recertified for ISO 9000:2015 Quality Management Systems and ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems.
