SAM Announces New Charity Partnership with Alzheimer’s Society UK

We are proud to announce our nominated partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society UK for the upcoming year. Building on our successful charity work last year, where we raised £10,000 for Marie Curie, we are excited to embark on this new partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society UK, continuing our commitment to making an impact in the lives of those in need.

Why the Alzheimer’s Society?

Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia affect millions of lives across the UK and globally. The Alzheimer’s Society UK is at the forefront of battling this condition, providing essential support to those affected and pioneering research to find a cure. By partnering with the charity, SAM is supporting their ongoing efforts to improve lives.

A Partnership Built on Shared Values

The Alzheimer’s Society UK, a pivotal organisation in the fight against dementia, aligns perfectly with our core values at SAM. Their relentless pursuit of a world without dementia and their support for those affected resonate with our commitment to community welfare and corporate social responsibility.

Shauna McErlain, our HR Manager, expressed her enthusiasm about this partnership: “We are thrilled to be working with the Alzheimer’s Society UK, an organisation that not only aims to eradicate dementia but also supports those affected by it. At SAM, we believe in supporting our community, and this partnership is a testament to our collective commitment to make a tangible difference.”

This year-long partnership will involve various fundraising activities and awareness campaigns aimed at supporting the Alzheimer’s Society’s vital research and support services. Our team at SAM is excited about the opportunity to contribute positively to such a meaningful cause.

Planned Activities and Goals

Our collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Society UK will include:

  • Fundraising Events: SAM will host and participate in several fundraising events, including charity challenges, raffles, and more with the proceeds going directly to the Alzheimer’s Society.
  • Awareness Campaigns: We aim to leverage our platforms to increase awareness about dementia, sharing valuable information, resources, and stories to educate our customers and community members.
  • Becoming a ‘Dementia friend’: SAM have signed up to be a Dementia Friend. This simply means encouraging our employees to learn more about dementia, putting themselves in the shoes of someone living with the condition, and turning their understanding into action. From visiting someone you know with dementia to being more patient in a shop queue, every action counts.
  • Employee Volunteering: SAM encourages our employees to engage directly by volunteering in community activities organised by the Alzheimer’s Society UK, fostering a deeper connection with the cause and enhancing team spirit.

How Can You Get Involved?

We invite our employees, customers, partners, and community members to join us in supporting this worthwhile cause. Here’s how you can get involved:

  • Educate Yourself and Others: Check out our social media channels for educational content about Alzheimer’s and ways to support those affected in your community.
  • Donate Directly: Keep an eye on our socials for our charity challenge fundraiser announcement and consider donating. Every donation helps fund crucial research and support services.
